MEET OUR PEOPLE
Co-founder & Chief Executive
Apper Julia, has taught and held various senior management roles in education for three decades. In her spare time she is a Children and Young People's Workforce Apprenticeship Assessor and Tutor and a trainee Psychodynamic therapist with a particular interest in social media and mental health. Julia is a Child Exploitation & Online Protection (CEOP) Ambassador for the National Crime Agency. She was shortlisted for Internet Matters Digital Safety Entrepreneur of the Year 2016 and TalkTalk Digital Hero - Internet Safety Category 2015. Julia is a fellow of School for Social Entrepreneurs, London where she is a regular 'witness presenter' and mentor and has spoken at the House of Commons All Party Parliamentary Group for Social Entrepreneurs. She has consulted on Dept. of Education and Dept. of Health school projects and is a published author and cybersafety blog writer. Julia has been an education advisor and regional coordinator for the East of England specialising in study support/out of school hours learning.
Co-founder & Gamer
Adrienne is fascinated by digital technology, and is the creative mind behind all things Excite-ed; Adrienne has extensive experience in employment related services and business development and is currently CEO of The Living Room. For a number of years, Adrienne worked with schools as an Extended Services Consultant working with families, teenagers and children. She is a skilled and experienced trainer. She is enthusiastic about supporting children and young people to overcome barriers and reach their full potential, by finding innovative ways to help them to access learning.
David brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Excite-ed from the commercial sector. He is an experienced entrepreneur in the world of Communication Technology in schools (ICT) and the corporate sector. He is committed to bringing innovative technology applications into schools and has worked with several hundred UK schools to refresh and update systems allowing cutting edge equipment, software, apps to be used efficiently by pupils and staff. David has assisted Head teachers and ICT coordinators in achieving their ICT quality mark (Naace).
Social Finance Officer
Catherine is great at managing our grant funding processes and impact measurement. She pursued a post-graduate career in fundraising and Event Management for a national charity. Whilst raising a family she has been Church Warden of St Andrew's Church, Hertford leading major fundraising and grant applications. Catherine is an active secondary school governor, where she supports the Finance and Premises committees and she has chaired the management committee of a local playgroup.
Sam is a gamer with over 20 years experience as a speech and language therapist, she is great at working alongside families and teachers to help children and young people become confident communicators. Sam is a Child Exploitation & Online Protection (CEOP) Ambassador for the National Crime Agency. Her expertise in interpersonal communication has also taken her into industry to work on projects using IT to enable safe and successful collaboration. Sam says:
"Good communication skills are so important for our children and young people in building quality relationships with their friends, at home and eventually in the workplace so they can be happy and achieve their potential. "
Sam's greatest challenge to date is keeping up with her two teenage daughters, who are avid gamers and social media users.
App Development Art Teacher
Becki is an inspirational art teacher who works with children and young people on the beautiful artwork in our apps, as seen in Banana Breakout. She works with our app development team at our school holiday app camps where children aged 7-14yrs learn to design, draw and develop apps, as well as learn how to code.
Excite-ed Game Design Tutor, Burma Lead and Associate Programmer
Matt is our app developer working on our summer App Camps. He also runs our Excite-ed Burma App Development programme in Myanmar International School, Rangoon. He is a rare breed: an experienced graphic designer and Flash animator who managed to do what he always said he wouldn’t: he learnt to code. He is from the first generation to have home console gaming and only wishes he’d been taught coding and video game making skills in school. Matt worked with Excite-ed to design and develop the Cybersafe app for Apple and Android devices. He also makes lots of great apps for children under his brand ‘Frosby’.
Web Developer & Social Media Dude
Josh is a gamer, musician, web developer and legal brain who maintains our web based tech and publications. Josh has applied his musical talent to the music and sound effects on our Banana Breakout App.
Online Game Design Tutor
Amanda is our fab Game Design Tutor. She is an enthusiastic member of the team working with children and young people in school settings running after-school coding and online game design clubs.
